How AI uses your data

What we share and why

With your permission, Suppa sends relevant messages, food preferences (including allergies), saved memories, meal-plan and grocery context, searches, recipes, and photos you provide to AI services. This supports meal planning, recipe assistance and extraction, search, and image features. The content sent depends on the feature you use.

Who processes AI requests

Suppa uses Vercel AI Gateway to route AI requests. A routed request is processed by Vercel and by the inference provider the Gateway selects to serve it. The Gateway may choose any of its inference partners that hosts the requested model, including for automatic failover, so the provider handling a given request can change without notice. Vercel publishes its current provider list. Some features may call an AI provider directly. Not every provider receives every request.

The AI models Suppa currently uses are developed by Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, DeepSeek, and TypeSafe (Jev). Model names and versions can change. A model's developer is not necessarily the provider hosting it; when a request goes through Vercel AI Gateway, the hosting provider is one of Vercel's inference partners.

For connected Kroger shopping, TypeSafe (Jev) receives the requested grocery ingredients and amounts, relevant household food preferences, and retailer product details to choose products and purchase quantities. Jev may be called directly or through Vercel AI Gateway. If it cannot complete matching, the existing assistant provider continues the shopping request.

The assistant may also use TypeSafe (Jev) for two checks. To check whether a recipe suits you, Jev receives the recipe, your household's allergies, dietary restrictions, and disliked ingredients, what you asked for, and your saved memory notes (used to check for kitchen equipment you don't have). To decide whether something you said in chat is a lasting preference worth saving to your memory notes, Jev receives your message, the assistant message it replies to, your food preferences, and your saved notes. When a note is saved this way, a Google Gemini model rewrites your sentence as a short note and Jev checks that the note matches what you said. Preferences of household members who have not allowed AI sharing are never sent. If Jev is unsure or unavailable for a recipe check, the existing Google Gemini recipe checker decides instead. If Jev is unavailable for a memory decision, nothing is saved automatically from that message.

Provider information:

Retention and training practices depend on the service, endpoint, and applicable agreement. Vercel reports which of its inference partners have zero-data-retention agreements, but we do not make a blanket promise that all AI requests have zero retention. Suppa's own storage and diagnostic practices are described in our Privacy Policy.

Your choice

AI processing requires your permission. You can decline and use manual meal planning, groceries, and cooking tools, or change your choice in Settings under AI Data Sharing. Turning AI off stops new AI transfers; it does not itself delete previously stored information.

We maintain this disclosure as our services change. A change to this page does not by itself expand your permission: materially different sharing is assessed before activation, with renewed permission where needed.
